Stefano Pioli will reportedly hold a face-to-face meeting with Steven Zhang of the Suning Group as he gets closer to the Inter job.

The Nerazzurri sacked Frank de Boer on Tuesday, and it was immediately suggested that the former Lazio Coach would replace him.

However, there are different factions within the club pushing for different candidates, and Chinese owners Suning were unconvinced by Pioli.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the owners have taken on board the advice of Javier Zanetti, Piero Ausilio and Giovanni Gardini.

Steven Zhang, son of Suning founder Zhang Jindong, will therefore meet face-to-face with Pioli, which could be the decisive step toward appointing him as De Boer’s replacement.

However, Guus Hiddink, Andre Villas-Boas and Vitor Pereira are also still on the shortlist, along with former Villarreal Coach Marcelino.

It’s thought super-agent Kia Joorabchian is pushing Marcelino, and the Iranian has close links with the club.
