Bologna have announced the sacking of Coach Stefano Pioli, with the club languishing in 17th place.

“Bologna FC 1909 can announce that, in light of the recent disappointing results, the club have felt compelled to dismiss, with great regret, first-team Coach Stefano Pioli,” a statement read.

“We would like to wish Pioli and all his staff sincere thanks for the work they have done over the years, with great professionalism, passion and an attachment to the club.

“In the coming hours we will announce a new Coach.”

Davide Ballardini has been named as Pioli’s likely successor.
