The Viola played a spectacular match at the Mapei Stadium, turning a 3-1 disadvantage into a 3-3 draw with a last-minute goal.

"We showed that we wanted to fight and never give up," Pioli told DAZN after the game. "You could tell that the team didn't feel completely free in its movements and wouldn't attempt some risky plays, even when they made sense.

"Nonetheless, there is some good to be taken from this result, based on how the game developed and how we reacted. There were important signs given by the team which we can build on."

Pioli was also asked about his men's state of mind, as the Viola have struggled to find a consistent form this season.

"We're working on it, trying to draw positives out of every training session and finding continuity over the course of each single game.

"[Giovanni] Simeone? It had been a long while since the strikers last scored, but a negative moment can be turned into a positive one in a matter of moments.

"We have to work on a lot of situations and believe in what we are doing. It's just a shame that we showed this level of spirit only after we found ourselves trailing our opponents twice.

"But we have to take something substantial out of today and invest it in our future."
