The Rossoneri will face Manchester United for the first time in 11 years in the last 16 of the Europa League in March, and Sky Sport Italia reported some Milan players reacted with sarcastic smiles to the draw.

The last match ended in a 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford, but it was the only time United eliminated Milan from a European competition and Pioli pointed out the ‘glorious history’ from the previous meetings.

“It will be a stimulating and motivating match for us,” Pioli told news agency ANSA. “We face the biggest favourites of the competition.

“An opponent and a stadium that recall glorious moments in our history.”
