The Biancocelesti face Czech side Sparta Prague tomorrow, as they seek to advance to the Quarter-Finals of the competition.

“It’s right to dream and believe,” Pioli responded when asked about winning the competition in his pre-match Press conference.

“We have to think about tomorrow and doing well in the first half [of the tie].

“It’s a very important competition for everyone, if you can get to the end you can win a prestigious competition.”

The Aquile are unbeaten in the competition, despite their struggles in Serie A,and Pioli admits there’s now a greater emphasis on Europe.

“I can only see positive aspects, in the Europa League we’ve been consistent. Not being up there in the League has allowed us to focus our energies on this.

“But it doesn’t matter what we’ve done so far, all that counts is what we do tomorrow. In the League we’re a long way back even if there are 10 games to go, so it’s natural that progression is crucial.”

Finally, the former defender was asked about his visit to the stadium while playing for Juventus in 1985, having come on for Sergio Brio at half-time.

“I remember that match even though many years have passed,” Pioli acknowledged.

“I remember that we lost, but we’d won the first leg [3-0]. We won the trophy, but there was no joy because of the tragedy in the final [the Heysel Stadium disaster].

“Can you see [looking at me] that’s it’s been 30 years?”
