“We are getting closer, the emotions are running high and so are the concentration levels,” debutant tactician Pioli told Mediaset Premium.

“We’ve worked very hard on our own ideas, as we want to remain a united team from start to finish. I think the first issue is to play with passion, enthusiasm, determination and the desire to prove Inter are a strong team.”

Pioli takes over after Frank de Boer lost half his total 14 competitive matches in charge.

“I think that I’ve arrived at Inter at the right moment. Inter are one of the best clubs in the world with very passionate fans, so we want to prove we’re worthy of the shirt.

“We have everything we need to succeed and are all together to take Inter where they deserve to be.”

Milan are the favourites going into the derby, above all as they currently sit in third place.

“Milan are having a great campaign and making the most of the fact they’re not in Europe. They have found a certain solidity.

“I have chosen my team, though we still have to evaluate some situations and discuss them in training. It’ll be easy for me to choose a line-up, because anyone I pick will be talented and ready.”
