Milan coach Stefano Pioli said he hopes to make the Rossoneri ‘more and more competitive’ after signing a new deal with the club.

The coach has penned a deal until June 2023 with an option for a further year at San Siro, after leading the side back to the Champions League in 2020-21.

The Rossoneri are currently joint first with Napoli in Serie A after 13 league games, and are still in with a chance of qualifying for the last 16 in the European cup.

Pioli penned a deal with the Diavolo today and extended his stay at Milanello for another year, with an option to continue until 2024.

The coach spoke to the club’s official website and explained he was ‘proud’ to work at Milan and will push to continue the growth from the last two years in charge of the club.

“I want to thank the club for having given me the chance to coach a competitive team and one that is replete with great values,” Pioli said. “Which must never go missing and which make AC Milan special.

“I’m proud of the work we’ve done until now, with the good relationship I have with the management, with the growth of my players and with the passion displayed by everyone working at this incredible club.

“Our fans are extraordinary, and I hope to return their affection by making AC Milan more and more competitive.”

Milan currently prepare for their next appointment in Serie A against Sassuolo this weekend, hoping to build on the 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.
