“Inevitably, if we want to have European ambitions, we’ve got to pick up many more points than we did in the first half of the season. There’s a long way to go, but we’ve got to start picking up the pace now,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Inevitably, if we want to have European ambitions, we’ve got to pick up many more points than we did in the first half of the season. There’s a long way to go, but we’ve got to start picking up the pace now,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Although they are visiting bottom of the table Chievo, the Flying Donkeys have lost only two of their last nine Serie A games and would be off the foot of the table if not for a three-point penalty.

“We know the difficulties this fixture holds, because Chievo are unbeaten at home since Mimmo Di Carlo took over and lost only two on their travels. There are dangers lurking and we need to be determined, focused and tactically precise.

“Chievo are going to be aggressive and will want to shake us off the ball. We have worked on the errors we made last week and cannot keep damaging ourselves, so we need to remove certain naïve mistakes from our game.”

Edimilson Fernandes and Cristiano Biraghi are suspended following the 3-3 draw with Sampdoria.

“David Hancko will start. He has shown marked improvements throughout training and is very ambitious. I expect a strong performance from him.”

There could be a rare chance for Marko Pjaca, who has reportedly turned down a move to Genoa this week because he wants to see out his loan in Florence.

“Marko has never told me he wants to leave, so he is in the squad. The only one who did request a transfer was Bartlomiej Dragowski and we allowed him to leave, bringing in Pietro Terracciano from Empoli.”

Fiorentina squad for Chievo: Brancolini, Lafont, Terracciano; Ceccherini, Diks, Vitor Hugo, Hancko, Laurini, Milenkovic, Pezzella; Benassi, Dabo, Norgaard, Gerson, Veretout; Chiesa, Eysseric, Mirallas, Muriel, Pjaca, Simeone, Thereau
