Fiorentina Coach Stefano Pioli admits he wants to keep working with sought-after Federico Chiesa, “but it’s not up to me and difficult when you reach certain sums.”

The 20-year-old is already attracting offers above €50m from the likes of Napoli and Juventus, while clubs abroad are interested too.

“I think Chiesa is the best young player in Italy and that’s pretty obvious, as he proved it on international duty too,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’d like to see him with us again for pre-season training, because the objective for Fiorentina is to improve the team. We Coaches are not in charge of the transfer strategy, so it’s not up to me and it’s difficult to make decisions when you reach certain sums, but the objective is to make the team better.

“We’ve had the Year Zero to lay the foundations and must now try to compete with stronger teams by using our ideas, passion and commitment.”
