Stefano Pioli says Bologna “need the perfect game” to get something against Milan, but are buoyed by forcing Juventus into extra time this week.

The Rossoblu were in action on Thursday and only went out of the Coppa Italia to a 2-1 defeat in Turin after 120 minutes.

“There is not much difference between Milan and Juventus,” said the Coach. “However, the Rossoneri have something more, as Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are players who make the difference.

“Their approach to football also gives fewer reference points than Juve. We’ll have to be very sharp to understand the tactical situations that will develop, as Milan are unpredictable and very dynamic.”

That certainly does not mean Pioli is expecting a defeat at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday.

“We’ve got to give it our all. We’re playing on home turf, are in good shape and coming off an important Serie A win against Siena.

“Obviously, we need the perfect game, ready to work hard and chase them down, using up all our physical and mental energy. But I know my team and they are ready to give 100 per cent to get a positive result.

“This is an important game for our growth, as we must step on to the field without the mentality of just accepting whatever comes, but rather to try and win the match.”
