Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli says he is ‘angry’ about Sunday’s defeat to Sassuolo, but ‘expects improvements’ against Rosenborg.

The Biancocelesti face the Norwegian side in the Europa League on Thursday evening, having picked up four points from their opening two fixtures against Dnipro and St Etienne.

However, they come into this clash on the back of a surprise 2-1 defeat to the Neroverdi in Serie A, during which Danilo Cataldi was sent off and Keita Balde picked up an injury.

“We’re angry about the result, it wasn’t what we wanted,” Pioli said at today’s Press conference.

“Not for the performance – we didn’t play a great game, but a good one.

“We paid a high price for some carelessness. I expect improvements, it’s an important match and we want to get through to the next round and wining would give us more motivation.

“Rosenborg are a great team, they are winning the league, were beating St Etienne and only lost at the death to Dnipro.

“They play a patient game when they have the ball, they have quality in midfield and pace out wide.

“We want to control the game and play with a good rhythm. We need to in order to do well in the Europa League.

“There’s always the possibility of [Ravel] Morrison playing. I still have to decide, he will be in the squad and I will see what decision to take tomorrow.

“[Lucas] Biglia and [Filip] Djordjevic are training, they’re expected to be back for Sunday.

“It’s possible that [Stefan] Radu will play in the centre, we are covered for left-footed players in the centre. We are one of the few teams that have played with two left-footers.”
