According to ANSA, Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti has been suspended for 20 days after insulting a doping control officer in October but will serve his ban during the World Cup break.

The Italian striker has reportedly settled for a 20-day suspension, basically admitting to being guilty of ‘disrespectful behaviour’ towards a doping control officer after a Serie A match between Sassuolo and Atalanta on October 15.

According to the report, the ex-Inter striker insulted a member of Nado Italia – the company in charge of doping checks after Serie A matches – while he was performing a control.

The 20-ban ban is valid from today until Dember 10 and will have no consequences on the pitch, given that the league has been stopped because of the World Cup.

Therefore, Pinamonti will be available for the first match of 2023 against Sampdoria at the Mapei Stadium.

Pinamonti, 23, joined Sassuolo from Inter for €20m last summer and has scored three goals in 15 appearances this term.
