Andrea Pinamonti is “ready to take on the challenge” at Genoa and follow in Diego Milito's footsteps, as he arrived to complete his €18m transfer from Inter.

The Italy U20 and U21 centre-forward is undergoing a medical this afternoon after the two clubs reached an agreement, although the Nerazzurri can retain a buy-back option in future.

It is also worth noting that Chievo are owed 50 per cent of any Inter transfer, so they will get approximately €9m out of the deal.

“I am happy with this new adventure,” Pinamonti told Sky Sport Italia.

“Great strikers have come through the Genoa ranks, like Diego Milito, Marco Borriello and Krzysztof Piatek. I am ready to take on the challenge.

“Milito is my favourite striker and I want to follow his footsteps at Genoa.”

Pinamonti only turned 20 in May and spent this season on loan at Frosinone.
