Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek has blamed “turmoil” and less “scoring opportunities” for the lack of goals and claimed he’s not affected by the media.

The Poland international has been linked with a move away from Milan this winter and the reports became even stronger after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival.

But this term, the 24-year-old has only scored five goals in 19 games for the Rossoneri and has stalled on 16 goals in 40 matches with the Diavolo.

He earned a move to the San Siro after bagging 19 goals in 21 games for Genoa in the first half of the 2018-19 season and has revealed he believes he will soon start scoring again.

“I look at myself in the mirror, look inside me to understand my mistakes,” he told TVP Sport. “There was too much turmoil at the club, the players feel this.

“In the beginning, as a team, we didn’t create as many scoring opportunities and the striker lives off this. Now, we are improving and it’s only a matter of time before I go back to shooting again, I can do it.

“For the journalists in Italy, one day you’re the pope of football and another the worst player ever. But I accept it. None of these people put themselves in my shoes, the covers of the newspapers can’t get to me, anyway.”
