Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has stepped down from his role, freeing him up for a move to Roma.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports Petrachi handed Torino President Urbano Cairo his resignation on Wednesday evening.

The 50-year-old was not present at Emiliano Moretti’s farewell Press conference, provoking an angry response from Cairo.

“On Petrachi I’ve already made myself clear,” he said.

“On Petrachi I’ve already made myself clear,” he said.

“You mustn’t ask me why he’s not here today. If Petrachi should offer his resignation, I don’t know if I should accept it. You should ask the lawyers instead.”

However, Di Marzio notes he cannot formally sign for Roma until he receives a ‘federal resolution’.

Two of his right-hand men at the Granata are expected to follow him to the Olimpico.
