The deal is done for Andrea Petagna to join Napoli for €17m plus €3m in bonuses, but he’ll remain on loan at SPAL until June.

According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, the two clubs reached total agreement this afternoon.

The striker is expected to have his medical tests tomorrow, most likely in Rome, before signing the contracts.

It won’t distract him from this weekend, seeing as Petagna is already suspended for the game with Lazio on Sunday.

This is a similar deal to the one Napoli struck with Hellas Verona to purchase defender Amir Rrahmani, but leave him on loan for the rest of the season.

Petagna had also been heavily linked with Roma, but they wanted to sign him for January, whereas the 24-year-old insisted he could not leave SPAL in their current position.

The Ferrara-based club is bottom of the Serie A table and he has scored eight of the team’s total 15 goals this season.
