Andrea Petagna is on the verge of his move to newly-promoted Monza, which in turn frees up Napoli to get Giovanni Simeone from Verona.

The deals are dependent on each other and will go into a domino effect.

Petagna will be yet another striker to leave Napoli this summer after Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne.

The centre-forward is expected to make the move to Monza on loan for €2.5m with obligation to buy for a further €10m plus another €1.5m in bonuses.

Sky Sport Italia set the total cost of the operation at €14m.

Once that move has been completed, Napoli can swoop for Hellas Verona striker Simeone.

That too would be a loan for €3.5m with obligation to buy for another €12m, although Napoli are still negotiating to make it an obligation only under certain circumstances, for example Champions League qualification.

Simeone is expected to sign a five-year contract worth €1.7m per season.

He had also been approached by Arsenal and some clubs in Spain, but Napoli had been the favourites for some time.

Cholito has not played in any of the recent pre-season Verona matches, as his departure was expected.
