Angelo Peruzzi reveals he didn’t expect Simone Inzaghi to become a coach: ‘He’s a different person…’

Peruzzi spent several years at Lazio as a goalkeeper and a team manager and left the club in the summer.

With Simone Inzaghi returning to the Stadio Olimpico with his Inter side to face Lazio tomorrow, Peruzzi spoke to Il Corriere dello Sport about the coach’s development.

“He’s a different person, I never thought he could become a coach. He was living day-to-day, he was always joking,” the former goalkeeper said.

“Now he has become mature, responsible and even stubborn.

“He is a decision-making coach who studies and takes care of details. One day I told him that he always had to make decisions, to have definitive answers.

“Simone can be sweet but also authoritative,” Peruzzi continued.

“The most significant transformation takes place during games. He is so tense that he would be able to fight. He lives for the result.

“Many speak about Simone by hearsay, but I can tell you there is no difference between him and [Antonio] Conte.

“They have different paths and characters, but Inzaghi does not lack the winning temperament”.
