“I won’t lie, we did expect to have more points in the table at this stage and to be playing better football,” confessed Perotti to Sky Sport Italia.

“We know that we’ve got the time to improve, but also that on Sunday we must find ourselves again and do it with a victory. If we play the way we did last season, we’ll certainly win.”

Coach Di Francesco took Roma to third place in Serie A and the Champions League semi-finals, yet is already under fire.

“It’s too easy to pin the blame on the Coach or try to get rid of him. Sacking the Coach is always the simplest solution, but last season we were among the four best sides in Europe and kept almost all our players, so we can’t have become the worst in just three months,” argued Perotti.

“The rapport with our Coach remains the same, there is respect and the desire to do well. If we had a clear reason for why things aren’t going well right now, we would’ve already fixed it. There are several different reasons and they all come together.

“It’s also more difficult this season, as every team in Serie A is capable of hurting you, as we saw with Chievo. The important thing is to emerge from this difficult moment together, starting from Bologna, and do it on the field rather than with words.”
