Sporting director Giorgio Perinetti has warned away reported interested in full-back Federico Balzaretti, believing that he could remain with Palermo.

The left-back, who is on duty with Italy at Euro 2012 this summer, is thought likely to depart the Rosanero after four years with the Sicilians, with Paris Saint-Germain strongly rumoured to be tracking him.

Last week saw the player econfirm this stance in an interview with the Corriere dello Sport,r but Perinetti sees things in another light.

“Balzaretti is at the Euros and I hope that his experience there is rewarding,” began the ds on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“The discussions on Balzaretti are different [to others at Palermo]. Many are banding around his name, I hope that he stays though, because we are willing to talk to him about a new contract.

“We have declared our intention explicitly, so I am convinced that he will remain with the Rosanero, except for perhaps in the case that he needs to keep a promise to join Paris Saint-Germain for family reasons.”

Perinetti also commented on the wider expectations of the summer transfer market in Serie A.

“It will be a blocked transfer market, there won’t be a lot of money considering the economic situation. Then, we must also see how ownerships are resolved, there are some difficulties with Borini and Giovinco for example, a lot of strategies will only emerge once their ownership will be resolved, but the big moves look likely only towards the end of August.

“Matias Silvestre? I’ve had some contacts, certainly the most intense from Inter, the Nerazzurri are most concrete, but for the sake of truth I must say that there have also been some calls from foreign clubs.”
