Last year’s action taken by the Italian Players’ Association (AIC) over disagreements in the collective agreement they have to sign with the Italian League forced the postponement of the first round of fixtures in 2011-12’s Serie A.
A temporary 12-month contract was signed with a promise to resolve the issue, and ahead of those discussions set to begin again this summer, CONI have urged that last summer’s strike is not an action repeated.
“I do not think that will be repeated, but the parties must respect their commitments,” CONI President Gianni Petrucci [pictured, centre] told Rai on Monday.
“The Players’ Association is making efforts, so we should not create issues because we cannot afford the postponement of the championship, it would be very grave, an unforgivable mistake.”
