The Italian association of goalkeeper trainers, also known as 'Apport', recently produced a list of the top goalkeepers in Serie A.

The first place went to the evergreen Gianluigi Buffon, playing at Juventus, but Perin made it in second.

“Coming behind the absolute greatest is like winning,” said Perin, as reported on Genoa's official site. “I consider this second place a source of great satisfaction.

“And it's especially pleasing as the position is awarded by the highest experts in the field.”

Perin then went on to discuss Bologna's next game against Carpi, scheduled for this Sunday at 14:00 UK time.

“Our last victory against Sassuolo boosted our morale, but we know the next game is going to be very difficult.

“Carpi need points and they'll come to Genova with rage in their eyes to conquer their objective.

“We'll have to be skilled, without making mistakes and without underestimating the level of threat.

“Now it's essential for us that we follow the instructions of our Coach. If we apply them properly, then we can play a great game.”
