According to news agency ANSA and the Corriere Mercantile, Perin was stopped last night on the Arenzano coast near Genoa.

He was pulled over while driving his Golf and tested positive on an alcohol breath test.

The 22-year-old was charged and the car placed in the care of a friend.

Genoa are due to play Palermo in a Serie A fixture on Monday at 19.45 GMT. Click here for a match preview.

It remains to be seen whether the club will penalise Perin by dropping him for that game.
