“Buffon is my idol,” goalkeeper Perin told the official Genoa website.
“He’s not just an example for me, but for all goalkeepers who will never be able to reach his level.
“For a young player who needs to grow a great deal, his professionalism and his advice allow us to learn constantly.”
The pair worked together last week, as Perin received his debut senior Italy call-up for the friendly against Spain.
They will be opponents on Sunday and the former Pescara shot-stopper can’t wait.
“It is always difficult when faced with champions. We are playing against the strongest team in Italy, but we’ll put our qualities on to the pitch and our hunger to do well.”
