Roma winger Carles Perez aims to reach the Champions League with the Giallorossi and has no intentions of returning to Spain: “My future is here.”
The 22-year-old feels he has adapted to life in the Italian capital after having arrived from Barcelona in January, but admits it was ‘difficult to accept’ leaving Camp Nou.
“It was hard to leave Barcelona, I didn’t understand it,” he told David De Las Heras on Instagram. “Now, I’m a Roma player, and my future is here.

“It was hard to leave Barcelona, I didn’t understand it,” he told David De Las Heras on Instagram. “Now, I’m a Roma player, and my future is here.
“I say this because I’m not the spare wheel of anyone. I don’t pretend to be a starter, we are talking about great teams, both Roma and Barcelona, but it was difficult for me to accept it. However, now I’m very happy.
“I hope we will start playing again soon, that we will reach fourth place and that we will advance in the Europa League.
“I don’t think of moving back to Spain, unless it’s to Sevilla. I was convinced when [coach Paulo] Fonseca called me and showed his faith in me.
“I like the city and Roma are a great team. I had always wanted to visit Rome, although I haven’t done much due to everything that has happened. It’s a spectacular city, the fans are incredible. I’m very happy to be here.”
Perez has been limited to five appearances in Serie A due to the forced break, but scored his first goal for the Giallorossi in the 1-0 win against KAA Gent in the Europa League.
“I was only able to play for a month or so, but I adapted well to the team’s style of play, my new teammates and the Italian game,” he added. “They stopped us in our most beautiful moment. We were ready to travel to Seville, after having gained confidence with back to back wins in the League.
“Let’s see when they will let us start again, but our priorities are to advance in Europe and reach fourth place [in the League].”
