Atalanta President Antonio Percassi said the Orobici’s performances ‘have improved’ after Papu Gomez left the Gewiss Stadium.

The former captain left the club last January after a falling out with Gian Piero Gasperini and the patron was asked about the Argentine’s departure.

Gomez: ‘I don’t know why Gasperini insists on telling lies’

He was asked if there’s anything missing in the Orobici attack after Gomez’s farewell, but the President claimed La Dea have ‘improved’ since the 33-year-old joined Sevilla in La Liga.

“The team up front is the same as last season,” Percassi told L’Eco di Bergamo. “It seems to me that after Gomez’s departure, the performances in terms of goals and points have improved.

“And I believe in [Josip] Ilicic’s recovery, who is training very seriously according to the coach.”

The President is looking forward to following the development of Aleksey Miranchuk this term too.

“The lad has evident qualities, his season intrigues me.”
