Former Atalanta forward hit out at Gian Piero Gasperini’s comments regarding their dispute last season. ‘I don’t understand why he insists on telling lies. There are 50 witnesses’.

The Argentine claimed Gasperini ‘tried to physically attack me’ after he disobeyed orders in a Champions League match against Midtjylland in November 2020.

Gomez: ‘Gasperini tried to attack me, he never apologised’

But the Orobici coach quashed his comments by claiming it was the opposite way around and Gomez reacts to his former coach’s response.

“I don’t understand why Gasperini insists on telling lies,” Gomez told L’Eco di Bergamo after hearing the statement from his former tactician.

“There are 50 witnesses. I said I made a mistake by disobeying on the field, I don’t know why he can’t admit the truth.”

The fall out between Gasperini and Gomez ended up with a move to Sevilla FC in La Liga for the Argentine, who helped his national team win the Copa America this summer.

Gasperini replied to Gomez: ‘The physical attack came from him, not me’
