The Giallorossi will be facing the Argentine superstar in the Champions League Quarter-Finals, after La Pulga missed his nation’s friendly with Italy on Friday night.

“Messi is the best in the world,” Pellegrini admitted, speaking to Corriere dello Sport.

“But even he has lost, and maybe we’ll beat him, perhaps even in a few days. He can make the difference, but 11 players go on to the pitch.

“The Italy game? I’d have preferred to reverse his absences…

“Playing against the best in the world is a fantastic thing, even just to see them on the pitch.

“If we could beat him, everyone would like it. Well, except him…”
