Lorenzo Pellegrini admits “it’s a delicate moment” for Italy, after whistles greeted last night’s draw with Ukraine.

The Azzurri took the lead in Genoa last night, but were pegged back by the visitors and now haven’t won on home soil since September 2017.

Their efforts drew whistles from the Marassi crowd, and Pellegrini was asked about that after the game.


“We understand it’s a delicate moment,” the Roma midfielder told ANSA.

“We understand it’s a delicate moment,” the Roma midfielder told ANSA.

“We did some good things today though. A win would have brought serenity, we’re sorry we didn’t win but we did some very good things.

“Now let’s think about Sunday, there’s an important match against Poland and right now, rather than thinking about other teams, we need to think about ourselves and give 110 per cent.

“We created a lot today, certainly in the first half, and we could have had a bit more luck. Now we need to continue like this and do better.”
