“This team has heart,” Pazzini told Sky after the final whistle.

“In the last three games we’d gone wrong, and we wanted to give a reaction. We have a fanbase which is always behind us, so we had to do it for them and the club.

“Now we have seven games and we’ll give everything we have. We can’t look back. We’re happy about tonight, but we have a difficult game on Sunday, and we’ll go to Napoli to play too.”

Brazilian youngster Samir made his debut, scoring the winner, and Pazzini was full of praise for the 21-year-old.

“He’s a good player. He’s always trained well and he deserves this.”
