Giampaolo Pazzini bagged a brace against Lazio and has 12 goals this season, but admits “I always have to prove myself” at Milan.

The striker has been pushed down the pecking order with the arrival of Mario Balotelli in the January transfer window.

He was given the chance to shine due to Balotelli and Bojan Krkic injuries, netting twice in last night’s 3-0 win over Lazio.

“I always have to prove myself,” smiled Pazzini. “I scored 12 goals because I was put in a position to do well and I am happy.

“We’re in good shape, so must keep on picking up as many points as possible and never give in.”

This result sent Milan into third place, which is eligible for the Champions League play-offs.

“We started out with two horrendous months, but then found our path and the credit goes to the players, the Coach and the President.”

Considering the lack of playing time, Pazzini was asked whether he would fit into a trident attack with Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy.

“That’s really not up to me to say. I am happy with what we are doing this season.”
