Paulinho turned down the opportunity of a move to Sampdoria during the summer, the Livorno player’s agent has confirmed.

“We spoke to Livorno President Aldo Spinelli at the start of the season,” Andrea Bagnoli told Tutto Juve.

“We rejected Sampdoria during that period, the only club who showed a concrete interest in the player at the time.

“We agreed with Spinelli that the player would test himself in Serie A with Livorno for the whole campaign, without necessarily talking about his future again in January.”

The Brazilian striker has scored three goals in seven League games for the Amaranto so far this term.

“Paulinho needs to add some consistency to what he has done and what he is doing,” added Bagnoli.

“He has shown in the past that he is an important player for the Lega Pro, in Serie B and now he is doing well in the top flight.”
