The 26-year-old striker is owned by Corinthians, but on loan at Sao Paulo, and made it clear he is eager to play in Europe again.

Pato posted a photograph of himself on Instagram in front of the famous Duomo in Milan, confirming his presence on Italian soil.

This fuelled rumours of a Serie A comeback for the former Milan striker, potentially even to San Siro where the Rossoneri are still waiting for Mario Balotelli and Jeremy Menez to return from injury.

“Alexandre is fired up and determined to get back to being one of the best strikers in the world,” representative Riccardo Napolitano told Calciomercato.it.

“We are evaluating different options for him. He is a hitman liked by many clubs and has completely overcome the physical problems of previous years.

“In Italy there are at least two or three clubs among the possible destinations, but at the moment obviously we cannot say any more.

“The only thing we can say for certain is that Pato will without doubt be a protagonist of the winter transfer session.”
