Earlier this week, Zamparini revealed how a director from Manchester City had called to inquire about signing Pastore on deadline day.

Speaking after the game, he said: "This evening Pastore's agent was here. We have raised his release clause to €100m at his suggestion.

"I believe that Pastore and Josip Ilicic could play as regulars for top clubs in Europe despite being young."

Zamparini then responded to comments made by Palermo Coach Delio Rossi who has taken issue with some of the criticism that he has received.

"If you come to be a Coach at Palermo, you know what to expect," he said. "Zamparini is made like this. I don't think that there is a problem with Rossi."
