Manuel Pasqual has responded to former teammate Houssine Kharja’s claims that the Fiorentina players lacked team spirit last season.

Kharja, who left the club this summer after rescinding his contract 12 months early, hit out this week at what he experienced in Florence.

“When I played at Fiorentina, I was shocked by the players' behaviour in the dressing room,” the midfielder, now with Al-Arabi, told Moroccan paper Mountakhab.

“There were many unacceptable things in the team. There was no team spirit, that's why I was happy to leave the club. The fans insulted me several times. They told me to go and sell drugs.”

Pasqual, however, believes that the 29-year-old was partially to blame for his negative experience at the club.

“Sometimes you have to put the effort in to be loved by a group. If every night you take the train to Milan and go…” the defender told reporters at today’s pre-season Press conference.

“He saved everyone except his teammates, those who run and work alongside you for an objective. He was unable to make people care about him.”
