Parma have told Fiorentina to forget about attempting to sign Sergio Floccari as a replacement for Alberto Gilardino.

The latter is said to be very close to joining Genoa which will leave an attacking void at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Parma striker Floccari, who left Lazio in the summer, is being tracked by the Tuscan outfit but a move doesn’t seem on the horizon.

“We’re happy that other clubs like our players, but Floccari is a vital point of force for us,” stated Parma sporting director Pietro Leonardi.

“I see us being linked with some important players, but we are keeping those that we have here because we are convinced that we have the players we need to reach our targets.

“We made some decisions in the summer and now that we finally have the opportunity to field Floccari and Sebastian Giovinco together, we won’t be changing our project.”

Floccari, 30, has had an injury-affected campaign which has reduced him to just two goals in 10 League appearances.

Fiorentina are also being linked with Catania’s Maxi Lopez, as well as the Juventus duo of Amauri and Vincenzo Iaquinta.
