The Ducali were suggested in reports last week as open to taking on the Rossoneri’s youth team Coach Pippo Inzaghi in the summer, if their current Coach opted to leave for the San Siro outfit, as replacement for the expected-to-depart Clarence Seedorf.
However, the club’s sporting director has played down the suggestion of a swap and made clear that if Parma do find themselves in the market for a new Coach, it will their decision alone on who they appoint.
“We are fine with Donadoni, whilst where necessary we will not take certain advice from Milan,” Leonardi has told TV Parma this week.
“We are free to choose our own Coaches and we are happy to continue like this.
“I am convinced that with Donadoni, for the person who he is and for his attachment to this club, there is no need to talk.
“It is difficult for him, for me and for the players to leave Parma, but we know how football is. It may be that we need a replacement, but if there is one thing that is certain, it is that Parma do not take advice from other clubs.”
Leonardi also turned his attention to Week 37’s clash between the Gialloblu and Torino – the winners will take a significant advantage in the race for that sixth and final Europa League qualification spot.
“This is truly a game par excellence, that could leave an important mark. From the weekend, we have been aware that we have to go there and play our Cup final.
“It is not just another League game with Torino, it’s like a Cup final. We are aware that this game could bring us great satisfaction after years of suffering and sacrifice.
“We once again have the opportunity to reach our goal, without looking at the results of others. I hope the fans understand this difficult moment and come to Turin to support us.”
