Chievo’s new talent Leandro Paredes says he has learned a lot from Juan Roman Riquelme at Boca Juniors.

The attacking midfielder arrived on loan via Roma on transfer deadline day, but was only presented to the media today.

“I started playing very young in order to enjoy myself, then I just kept going,” said the 19-year-old.

“At Boca Juniors I progressed to the senior squad. Riquelme is the person who helped me the most and he will always be an example for me to follow.

“I know that there are a lot of expectations around me, but I want to grow as a player and as a person here.”

Paredes is expected to learn the Serie A ropes at Chievo, then move on to Roma.

“Chievo are a good side and I can learn a lot here. I want to be ready when the Coach calls for me to enter the fray.

“I hope to reach the Verona Derby in good shape so that I can make the difference.”
