“We are accustomed to playing many games in quick succession, so we take it one match at a time,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.

“There is only one player in a new role, Blaise Matuidi at left-back, but for the rest, we are sticking to the plan.”

Paratici was asked about the Mandzukic issue, as a move to Qatar seems to have been abandoned amid reports he’s waiting for Manchester United in January.

“We are evaluating the situation with Mario, so is he, and he has to do it with all the time he needs. Mario has been an excellent player for us and we owe him a great deal.

“If he considers it right to leave and finds the solution he wants with terms everyone agrees with, then he can go, otherwise we’ll find another solution.”

Emre Can vented his frustration at the lack of space under Maurizio Sarri, prompting rumours of a PSG deal.

“We never interfere with the decisions of the Coach. Emre Can is doing well and will get more playing time throughout the season.”
