Naturally, the first questions were about the news Paratici is one of the figures formally under investigation for fraud and lying to the authorities over Suarez’s ‘fixed’ Italian language test in Perugia.

Here is a recap of the story so far.

“The club released a statement yesterday that clarifies our position, so I have nothing more to add on that. We’re not concerned,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.

Paratici telephoned Minister Paola Di Micheli to ask for more information on what Suarez needed to obtain an Italian passport, but assures it was not an attempt to curry influence.

“I have been friends with Paola Di Micheli since we were kids, we live in the same town, she also clarified her position, so there’s nothing to be worried about.”

Paratici was asked if he would do the same again?

“Absolutely yes. Certainly, yes. I don’t think asking a question was at all inopportune. It’s probably better, in fact, to talk to someone who knows more than you on a subject. Asking questions is not a crime.”

The conversation finally moved to the football ahead of the Derby della Mole.

“We see improvements in every game, we play much better football and there are still very big margins for improvement, so it all bodes well.

“We knew there would be a process with some ups and downs, but there are no short-cuts in this situation.”
