He even gave a guided tour of the beach where he grew up playing with his brother, his childhood home and comments from his parents.

“I owe it all to my grandfather, who was my first Coach. I’m sure he is watching me from Heaven and is proud to see how I’ve grown.

“Milan is a beautiful city, with a very different culture. I hope my wife and I can settle in, so I can focus on my primary objective, which is helping Milan to win.

“Milan are a club known worldwide for their history, their success and the Brazilians who have come through here, such as my idol Kaka.

“I hope, along with my teammates, to bring Milan back to winning ways, achieve great trophies and bring the fans joy.”

He was shown video messages from former Rossoneri stars Kaka, Nelson Dida and Serginho.

“If I can do even half what they achieved for Milan, I’ll be very happy. Coach Gattuso and the whole team immediately made me feel at ease during training. The Coach is a fantastic person who transmits a lot of energy and motivates the squad to do well.

“Playing in red and black already makes me feel at home, as they are the colours of Flamengo. I’ve always been fascinated by Milan for its history and now the club is part of my life too.”

Paqueta was on camera with his wife and parents when given the first tour of San Siro by directors Paolo Maldini and Leonardo.

“Leonardo and Maldini are big names not just for Milan, but in the history of football. I hope to learn from them, follow their footsteps at Milan and write my own history here along with the fans.

“I am very happy that after so little time I already feel the fans are fond of me. I want to repay them with success on the field.

“I hope in a year to have gradually earned my place within the Milan team. I know how important it is for the club to get back into the Champions League and I’d like to help make that happen, to win games and titles. Where I’d like to be in a year is winning with Milan.”
