Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport picked Malick Thiaw as Milan‘s worst player against Fiorentina last night with the pink paper saying the Rossoneri ‘were already in London.’

Stefano Pioli’s men suffered a 2-1 loss at the Stadio Franchi on Saturday with goals courtesy of Nico Gonzalez and Luka Jovic for the Tuscans and Theo Hernandez for the defending Serie A champions.

Milan visit Tottenham in North London on March 8 in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 and according to Gazzetta, the Rossoneri were not entirely focused on the match with Fiorentina with such a big game ahead for them.

“Milan were already in London,” wrote the pink paper on Sunday’s printed edition.

German defender Thiaw, one of Milan’s best players in the previous four matches, all won by the Rossoneri without conceding, was the worst player at the Stadio Franchi, according to Gazzetta and Corsport.

“Cabral gave him a lesson in the first hour. Malick hardly saw him and made many errors when he had the ball. Back on earth,” wrote the pink paper rating Thiaw 4.5/10, the same as il Corriere dello Sport.

“Much more doubtful than usual and the manifesto was when he got a yellow card for a foul on Cabral after a bad first touch,” wrote the Rome-based paper.

Ante Rebic got the same rating as Thiaw on Gazzetta where only Mike Maignan (7) and Theo Hernandez (6) got passing grades.

  1. Scapegoating. Tomori by far the worst player on the pitch. Bennacer and rebic also non existent.
