Christian Panucci believes “Roma can beat Barcelona” this evening in the Champions League Nou Camp encounter.

The former defender played for the Giallorossi and Real Madrid in his career and is currently the Coach of Serie B side Livorno.

“I might be surprising some people, but I say Roma can beat Barcelona on their own turf,” Panucci told La Repubblica.

“The Giallorossi have more quality than any other squad in Italy and in matches like this just a few details could make the difference.

“I scored my first goal at Camp Nou in my first Champions League game with Roma in 2002, but unfortunately it was not enough to take home the three points.”

Panucci won the Scudetto with Roma, so can he see analogies with the current team?

“We had more leaders, people like Gabriel Batistuta, Vincent Candela, Walter Samuel, Marcos Cafu, Francesco Totti and Emerson.

“We were more mature, but this Roma has more quality.”
