Alberto Paloschi reflects on his latest return to Milan, his friendship with Pippo Inzaghi and how Chievo can take a result this weekend.

The Gialloblu are at San Siro this Saturday night in Week 6 in a fixture that will see Paloschi once more line up against the team he developed at.

This time, however, will be the first instance as a fully-owned Chievo man, following their summer purchase of the remaining 50 per cent of his registration from the Rossoneri for a reported €3m fee.

For the 24-year-old, there are no regrets in having failed to make the grade at Milan.

“I am glad because if a team like Chievo has invested so much then it means that they believe in me,” Paloschi has told Tuttosport this week.

“I am always joking with President Luca Campedelli telling him he did a half-crazy thing and I want to repay his confidence and that of sporting director Luca Nember.

“[The return this weekend] is special to me because with Milan I debuted in Serie A and I have great memories of my time spent in the Rossoneri youth sector.

“I was taken from amateur football and they led me to the professional game. To them I will always be grateful.”

It was put to the striker that he may harbour regrets at failing to live up to the particular tag as Pippo Inzaghi’s heir in the Milan attack.

“No, because in the end everyone makes their own choices. Chievo have believed in me, investing a lot of money, and now I can say that I am happy with how it turned out.

“Did he used to give me advice when we trained together? Yes, because first of all he was a friend off the field.

“I’ll never forget the time I was injured. He gave me the right direction to take care of myself, recommending the physiotherapist Giorgio Gasperini. This is just an example, but perhaps the most important advice he gave me.”

On the weekend, Paloschi considered what he and the Flying Donkeys must achieve in order to take home a result.

“Milan are a team made up of many champions. We will have to take care of every single detail to take advantages of the opportunities we can construct.

“Milan can only be beaten if everyone in the field gives more than 100 per cent. Then, you also need a bit of luck.

“We have to try to earn it, and try to bring an incredible joy to our fans.

“Can we take inspiration from Empoli and Cesena? Each games has its own story, so we have to analyse them each with the right detachment.

“Empoli and Cesena were brave to capitalise on some attacking episodes and we will have to do the same thing to be able to take home points from San Siro.”

Paloschi was given a hypothetical choice between scoring against Milan on Saturday night, scoring in the Verona derby and scoring against Inter at San Siro to ensure Chievo’s League status.

“Of course I would always choose all three! I have already scored against Inter, so if I have to choose, I would say a goal in the derby with Hellas, or a goal at Milan.”
