Roma President James Pallotta admits Francesco Totti “earned this renewal”.

It was initially thought that the Giallorossi would not offer their legendary captain a new contract, with his deal set to expire on June 30.

However, in the Lupi’s last seven games of the season, Er Pupone provided four goals and two assists, and it was today confirmed that he’ll play for one last season.

“It’s a nice coincidence that on the anniversary of the foundation of AS Roma, Totti has signed a new playing contract,” Pallotta noted on Roma TV.

“Nobody has scored more goals or played more games for this club than Totti, and we’re honoured that he’ll continue playing for another season.

“He’s earned this renewal, and we hope this last season on the pitch will coincide with the beginning of a new era of success for Roma.”
