“Mine is a long-term project,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “I want to stay in charge of Roma for at least 20 years and I want to win. I managed to do that with Boston after five years…
“I too wake up in the middle of the night because I don’t understand how we can lose certain games,” said the man who is also a board member at the Boston Celtics. “We have talent, we lack consistency.
“I am satisfied with the results of sporting director Walter Sabatini and director general Franco Baldini. We are capable of beating anyone and we have shown that.
“And no club in the world has done deals with global brands like Nike, Disney and Volkswagen. Everything is going as planned.”
Pallotta, however, has admitted that the outfit are looking for new investors after a deal with Adnan Adel Aref Al Qaddumi Al Shtewi recently collapsed.
“We had a number of advisors who recommended him,” Pallotta continued. “We did all the research that was necessary and it seemed like a serious option. Then what happened then happened.
“But I can assure you that we did not lose any money over it, just time and that didn’t effect our work.
“Morgan Stanley are setting up a platform to examine the many offers that we are getting from possible investors.
“There are a lot of European, American, Asian and Middle East organisations. We’re looking for €75m.”
The businessman was also asked about the futures of boss Aurelio Andreazzoli, who replaced Zdenek Zeman in February, and captain Francesco Totti.
“Andreazzoli has done well up to now, but it is too soon to say whether he will stay.
“We’ll talk to Totti soon about a new contract. Personally, I cannot even imagine going to see Roma and not finding Totti on the field.”
Pallotta is set to fly into Italy this week ahead of Monday night’s capital derby against Lazio.
