According to ANSA, ex-Roma President James Pallotta and former club directors could be tried for artificially inflating transfer fees during their time at the club, while current owners are not involved.

The Rome prosecutor ended an investigation into Roma transfers during the Pallota ownership, and the ex-club president could be tried for allegedly inflating players’ fees.

According to Calcio&Finanza, ex-club directors Mauro Baldissoni, Guido Fienga, Giorgio Francia, Umberto Maria Ghandini and Francesco Malknecht, could also go on trial, while the current management, including owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin, are not involved in the investigation.

The alleged offence is market manipulation through false or misleading communication regarding the transfers of several players, including Gregoire Defrel, Riccardo Marchizza, Davide Frattesi, Nicolò Zaniolo, Davide Santon, Radja Nainggolan, Bryan Cristante, Marco Tumminello, Leonardo Spinazzola, Kostas Manolas and Amadou Diawara and Luca Pellegrini.

Roma’s suspicious transfer activities allegedly ended in 2021 after the club was acquired by the Friedkin family, which is why the prosecutor does not mention the current owners.
