Milan defender Gabriel Paletta is close to a Lazio transfer for €2m, as the player just needs to work out personal terms.

The 31-year-old Italy international will be out of contract at the end of the season.

He has been left out of competitive games this term because he was transfer-listed, with interest from Torino, Fiorentina and Fenerbahce.

Lazio appear to have won the race, agreeing a €2m deal with Milan, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

All that needs to be done now is to sort out personal terms, but there is a very specific reason for the delay – agent Martin Guastadisegno had to stay in Argentina for the birth of his second child.

There are still issues to be resolved, as Paletta wants a three-year contract and he currently earns €2m per year at Milan, whereas Lazio are offering almost half that.
