Ambitious Palermo have put Massimo Maccarone on the transfer list, the striker's agent has confirmed.

"I received a phone call yesterday from the club in which I was told that they didn't want the player anymore," Paolo Fabbri noted.

"I want to make it clear that Palermo have made this decision and it was not because of a request from my client."

Maccarone joined Palermo in the summer after some fine showings at Siena, but he's failed to break into the plans of boss Delio Rossi.

"He's not played that much and even less in his natural role," the representative added. "I'm not blaming anyone though, this is just how it goes.

"His teammates whom he is up against have done well and the Coach made his decisions.

"We'll now accept that the club has put him up for sale and we'll accept the consequences of that decision."

Fiorentina have been linked with the player by some papers today, but Rosanero chief Maurizio Zamparini insists he's had no contact with the Viola.

It's understood that Fabbri will hold talks with Maccarone at some stage tomorrow to discuss their next move.
