Results have been poor under De Zerbi, with Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Bologna their sixth in a row. The Sicilians now sit in 19th place in the standings, which has led to reports that Zamparini has run out of patience.

The controversial owner is no stranger to re-hirings, as Ballardini took the reigns at Palermo on two separate occasions last season, along with Beppe Iachini and Giovanni Bosi.
